Exploring the Steps towards Inner Peace | Step 3

Step 1 and Step 2 is done – so let’s proceed to step 3.

People who have attained a level of inner peace already lost the interest in judging other people and their actions.

I must admit I still have a long way to go. Whenever I see something off, my immediate reaction would be – “what the hell?” I immediately turn on my evil side and make unnecessary side comments that I wasn’t even given any right to make.

So, I am human – this is human nature – or so we all believe. But, if we must achieve inner peace, we must lose interest in judging other people and their actions.

I think the best way to do this is to practice judging yourself. How does it feel? When you look at the mirror or inside yourself and judge your own thoughts, feelings or actions, what makes it awful?

When you look at yourself, what do you see?

Are you self-righteous thinking you’re better than everyone else? Absolutely not! Just by thinking that you are better doesn’t make you any better than the rest of the world. You’re still ordinarily human – a small speck in this world. You are given the chance to live in this world – to make it a better place to live in or to live your life to the fullest.

If we are going to waste that judging other people and their actions, we are wasting effort and time. We should learn to put ourselves in the shoes of others so we would know how it feels to be judged.

They’re judging me – why wouldn’t I judge them back?

Well, what they think of you don’t matter. What you think of yourself does. There is a big difference in that.

As I have said, I still have a long way to go and I am still nobody to preach. Nonetheless, I think that the first step towards achieving inner peace is to ACCEPT that you’re not perfect just like everyone else.
